Keemun Black Tea, also known as Qimen Black Tea. Its name “Keemun Black Tea” is derived from its place of origin – Qimen, which is usually called as Keemun in the Western Countries. It is one of the ten most famous tea in China, and one of the three most famous black tea in the world. Keemun black tea from China, Darjeeling Tea from India and Wu Fa Ceylon Black Tea from Sri Lanka, are recognized as the world’s three most frant black tea. It is also a popular “premium exporting tea” to different countries starting in 1900s, especially to England.

Aromatic Spiral Black Tea – an elegant variety of Keemun Black Tea

There are many different kinds of Keemun Black Tea, and the kind of Keemun Black Tea here is called Xiang Luo, which means Aromatic Spiral. The dry leaves are small and curled like a snail. This batch of Aromatic Spiral is made of Yu Qian tea material, which means the tea is harvested before the start of the Spring Rain solar term. the picking standard is one bud, two to three leaves. When comparing it with another keemun black tea, it is slightly stronger in its mountfeel and sweeter in its taste, when you sniff the dry leaves, you can smell a subtle caramel aroma, and when you taste it, it is well balanced in its floral, fruity and honey note.

Unique Keemun Aroma

Keemun black tea is special in its unique aroma called Keemun Aroma, it is a unique aroma of Qimen black tea, it is also the only type of aroma named after the region in the world. The unique keemun aroma which is often described as a perfect combination of floral, fruity and honey aroma.

Why is Keemun black tea so fragrant? The Keemun aroma is basically determined by three aspects, its variety, growing environment and its making process.

• Variety of keemun black tea : Keemun “Zhu Ye Zhong” is the main variety of Keemun black tea, it is rich in fragrance and its amount of aroma substances is relatively higher than other tree varieties.
• Growing environment: Qimen, the place of its origin, ia a “national ecological demonstration area”. Tea plantation are mostly distributed in the forest in high mountain area. The natural environment and good soil condition is conducive to the effective accumulation of nutrient and aromatic substances in tea.
• Making Process: the traditional making process of Qimen gongfu black tea is complicated and exquisite, the whole process includes 17 steps. Fermentation in the initial production process and the other two drying steps in the refining process are the key to the formation of aroma, creating the strong floral and fruity aroma. Under the heating during the baking process, the sugar substances creates its unique honey fragrance, thus forming the unique aroma of Keemun aroma, like flowers, fruit and honey.
