Sui Yin Zi Ripe Pu-erh
Sui Yin Zi, also known as “Silver Pieces” or “Silver Nuggets,” is a unique variety of Shou (Ripe) Puerh tea. Resembling small granules, Sui Yin Zi is a kind of Lao Chao Tou but in a compact size. Sui Yin Zi is renowned for its mellow taste and aroma of glutinous rice. Upon tasting, the tea is very smooth and kind of rich in its mouthfeel, it also carries subtle earthy and woody undertones, which can be re-steep for multiple times
How is Sui Yin Zi formed in the making process?
These little nuggets are formed during the fermentation process of ripe Puerh, where a large pile of tea is carefully moistened and periodically turned to ensure consistent fermentation. During this process, small pieces or chunks of tea, rich in pectin, naturally bind together. These nuggets are then separated from the larger tea cakes before their formation, resulting in a partially fermented state. This distinctive characteristic contributes to the flavor profile of Sui Yin Zi.
