Yixing Black Tea from the famous town of Purple Clay Teapot – Yixing

Yixing Black Tea 宜興紅茶, also known as Yixing Hong Cha, is a renowned tea variety cultivated in the town of Yixing, famous for its exceptional Yixing clay teapots. The tea is also referred to as Yang Xian Black Tea陽羨紅茶, reflecting the ancient name of Yixing as “Yang Xian.” The characteristics of Yixing Black Tea are the tightly twisted leaves with a dark colour. It consist of a sigle buds with one to two leaves. The infusion has a bright orange red color, and the aroma is rich with floral and fruity notes. It has an indescribable fragrance that gives the long lasting natural aroma and sweetness.

This year’s batch, harvested in 2022, hails from a local family-run tea farm in Yixing, with whom we have established a partnership spanning over four years. We are delighted to offer two options: a light roast and a dark roast.

Light Roast:

The light roast version of Yixing Black Tea offers a softer and smoother experience, accentuated by prominent floral notes, hints of fruitiness, and a delicate honey undertone.

Making Process:

Plucking Tea Buds with 2-3 leaves. After plucking the tea leaves, it undergoes steps of wilting, rolling, fermentation, drying and baking.
