Big Dark Leaf “Da Wu Ye” – the large and dark Dancong tea with high aroma
“Da Wu Ye” means big dark leaf in Chinese. Just like its name implies, the fresh leaves of Da Wu Ye is large, its length can be around 7 to 8cm , and it is in dark green colour. It is one of the most common and classic Dan Cong, which is usually considered as the Daily drink and value to money options for the locals in Chao Zhou.
Da Wu Ye is originated at Shang Jiao Village in Chao Zhou, its mother tree has more than 100 years of history. In 1958, the varietal of Da Wu Ye was discovered by Mr. Lin Mian Sheng, he found that the tea leaves of this varietal is especially large and in dark green colour, and this special big leaves varietal is started to be largely grown in Feng Huang town.
What does it taste?
The varietal of Da Wu Ye belongs to high aroma types of Dan Cong tea. It tastes relatively stronger with higher aroma when comparing with other Dan Cong. It also has apparent orchid note with a light hint of milky note. As the leaves is large, its mouthfeel is bold and layered, it has a lingering sweetness even after multiple steeps.
