Handmade Meng Ding Gan Lu Green Tea harvested from Meng Ding Mountain

Meng Ding Gan Lu, Gan Lu, translated as “Sweet Dew,” originating from the renowned Meng Ding Mountain in Ya’an, Sichuan, which is one of the most renowned and representative tea from Sichuan, with a rich heritage over 2000 years. It is a full-bodied green tea characterized by a clean taste and an orchid aroma with sweet fruity notes.

This Year’s Selection

This spring, we have reserved the first flush batch of Meng Ding Gan Lu made of Lao Chuan Cha (Sichuan Old Variety), from an ecological tea garden located at around 1000 meters above sea level, meticulously crafted by experienced tea artisans following ancient methods. The production adheres to the traditional “three kneads and three fries” technique. Under the supervision of an esteemed professor from Sichuan Agricultural University, it is handcrafted with care.

Appearance and Tasting Profile

Meng Ding Gan Lu is the earliest green tea in curled-shape, which is due to the unique making process of “three frying and three rolling steps” – which means it undergone the steps of pan-frying and rolling for three times, resulting in its signature curled appearance and unique taste.

The dry leaves is also full of white pekoe, offering you a delightful fragrance of “Hao Xiang” – the sweet pekoe aroma that lingers in the mouth and throat. It is signature with its strong aroma with apparent orchid and nutty fragrance, with the roasted bean and chestnut notes, and the taste is fresh and sweet with a long-lasting aftertaste.

History of Meng Ding Tea

Meng Ding Mountain – this famous mountain located in Ya’an, Sichuan, is one of the origins of Chinese tea culture. During the Western Han Dynasty, the Tea Sage Wu Lizhen personally planted seven tea trees on Mengding Mountain, marking the beginning of artificial tea cultivation in China. Mengding Mountain is thus known as the “Home of Immortal Tea” and the “Holy Land of Tea.” Since the Tang Dynasty, Mengding tea has enjoyed the reputation of being “the best in Yanzhou” and has become a tribute tea for successive royal families.

Tea-producing region of Men Ding Mountain

Meng Ding Mountain, situated at altitudes exceeding 1400 meters above sea level, benefits from abundant rainfall of over 2000 mm annually, creating an optimal environment for tea cultivation. The area is shrouded in clouds and mist throughout the year, with lush vegetation, abundant rainfall, and fertile soil. The tea-producing region is mainly concentrated in the high-altitude areas between 800 and 1200 meters. The large temperature difference between day and night leads to slow growth of tea buds, which, in turn, allows for the accumulation of richer internal substances. Those who have tasted Mengding Mountain tea always remember its unique sweetness and smoothness, nurtured by the gentle mountain mists and the deep heritage accrued over a thousand years of tea cultivation.

We aim to ship pre-ordered products within 7 days of receiving the tea.

We do our best to meet the estimated delivery date (the estimated delivery date of the product within the product description on our website). This date cannot be guaranteed due to potential delays on harvest date, however we do our best to estimate this date as accurately as possible.

Your order will be sent when all the goods are in stock. If there are ‘in-stock’ items on your order they will be put to one side and shipped at the same time as your pre-ordered item; we do not do partial shipments.

3. Payment:
Payment is taken and processed at the time your order is placed.
If for any reason we cannot fill your order, a full refund will be issued.

4. Cancellations:
We will accept cancellations of pre-ordered items before the order has shipped, however if this becomes a regular occurrence we reserve the right to refuse further orders.
