from the famous town of Purple Clay Yixing Teapot – Yixing

Yang Xian Xue Ya 陽羡雪芽 is a premium kind of ancient Green Tea originated from Yixing since the Eastern Han Dynasty (25 AD – 220 AD). You may have heard about the famous Yixing Zisha Clay Teapot. This Tea is also from the famous heavens of Purple Clay Teapot – Yixing – a city located in Jiangsu province. “Yang Xian” is actually the ancient name of Yixing, and “Xue Ya” means snow bud or snowy sprout.

The recorded history of Yang Xian Xue Ya is roughly around 2000 years. Lu Yu – the Sage of Tea, has mentioned Yang Shan Xue Ya in the Tea Bible, he described it as an aromatic tea which can be served to Kings. It is then became a kind of Tribe Tea for the Royals in Tang Dynasty. The name of Yang Xian Xue Ya is named after a poem line “雪芽我為求陽羡” written by Su Dongpo蘇東坡- a famous Chinese Poet and Writer in Northern Song Dynasty. This beautiful line indicated the long history of this tea and described how beautiful the Tea is.

This beautiful “Snow Sprout” tea is harvested in the first flush, with the plucking standard of one bud and one leave. The material used is fine, small and full of white pekoe, looks just like the snow sprout. With the standard of plucking the finest part of the tea, it required seventy thousand piece of tea buds to make 500g of Tea, so there is only a limited production quantity every year. This batch of Tea is refreshing and crisp in its mouthfeel, it shows an elegant aroma with lingering floral notes and soft sweetness.

Brewing Method (Adjust with your own taste):

Gaiwan Style: 3-4g Tea| 150-200ml water (85-90°c) | 1-3 infusion : 10-15’s, After : Add 5’s each

Glass Style: prepare a tall glass, pre-warm the glass by rinsing it, fill your glass with 85-90°c water, add tea leaves (3g), let it rest for 1 minute, enjoy (Don’t drink the whole glass, left 1/3 of Tea liquor in the glass for resteeping, add 30’s each time)
