This year, we proudly present this newly compressed tea cake, crafted from the first flush spring batch of Pu-erh leaves. These leaves originate from the wild ancient tree, standing tall for around 300 years without any artificial trimming or cutting. The pluckers ascend ladders to gather the leaves, ensuring the utmost care in their collection. The resulting brew exudes a captivating wild forest flavor, with a pronounced and layered aroma carrying delicate floral notes and orchid undertones.
As you indulge in this tea’s light yellow tea liquor, freshness and sweetness envelop your palate. Prominent floral notes dance upon your taste buds, offering a delightful symphony of flavors. The experience is further enhanced by a lingering, gratifying sweet aftertaste that leaves a lasting impression.
This Pu-erh Tea Cake is from the remote depths of Jingmai’s Nuogang Ancient Village. Nestled within the thousand-year-old village, this Dai community holds a rich history spanning millennia. The name “Nuogang” (糯岗) translates to “the place where deer drink water” in the Dai language, reflecting the pristine natural environment that nurtures the tea gardens.
Jingmai Mountain – The largest and one of the oldest cultivated ancient tea garden
Jingmai Mountain is one of the six major tea mountains in China, situated in the South-west part of Yunnan, adjacent to Menghai, Xishuangbanna in the east and Myanmar in the west.
Jingmai has the largest cultivated ancient tea garden in the world, there are thousands of acres of ancient tea garden, and the area of its thousand-year-old tea trees is the largest among the tea mountains. Today, Jingmai Mountain’s ancient tea forest cultural landscape has been approved by the State Council as a world cultural heritage project officially declared by China in 2022. There are about 1.13 million tea trees here, the oldest of which is 1,400 years old.
The ancient tea forest of Jingmai Mountain has a long and proud history, the cultivation of ancient tea can be traced back to 180 AD, with a history of more than 1,800 years. The towering ancient trees surrounding the forests occurs at altitudes ranging between 1100 to 1662 meters, most of them grow naturally in the virgin forest. This virgin forest environment provides favorable conditions for the growth of tea trees, the biological species are rich and diverse without pesticide or fertilizer pollution. The branches of tea trees are covered with moss, vines, wild fungi and many other parasitic plants. There is a parasitic plant called “crab foot” (scientific name tea velvet, which has the effect of clearing away heat and detoxification). This highly bio-diversified environment enables excellent and unique tea tree quality.
