The best partner of Longjing Tea – renowned black tea made of Longjing Tea in Hangzhou
Jiu Qu Hong Mei is also named as red plum black tea / longjing black tea. You may have heard of the famous Longjing Tea from Hangzhou, Jiu Qu Hong Mei is also a famous kinds of Black Tea from the west lake of Hangzhou. People considered it to be the best partner with Longjing Green Tea, and called them “One Red & One Green” in the West Lake region. It was considered as a famous kinds of Black Tea just like Keemun Black Tea and Lapsang Souchong in the early 1900s.
Jiu Qu Hong Mei is made of the same cultivar of Longjing, its origin is made from Longjing old tree varietal (Qun Ti Zhong). This batch of Jiu Qu Hong Mei is made of material from Longjing varietal #43 in Hangzhou. The Tea is harvested in early spring, the material of tea leaves is tender and small, with small tea buds. The dry leaves is small and dark in colour, you can see the little pekoe on it when you take a close look on it. As it is relatively light in fermentation when comparing with other black tea, it tastes elegant and soft, it is well balanced with floral, fruity and honey notes, and special undertone of plum blossom fragrance.
