The beautiful and downy Yunnan Silver Needle made of Yunnan big leaf varietal
Jinggu Silver Needle is a white tea with a 150 years of history, made of Yunnan large leaf varietal from Jinggu, Yunnan. This batch of silver needle is from Yangta Village in Jinggu, located at 1700m above the sea. As the weather is cool in the high mountain, the buds and leaves of this tea variety grows a thick layer of fur to adapt to the growing environment. The tea buds has conspicuous silvery pekoe, the tea leaves is strong, so it is also called big white tea (Da Bai Cha).
This Jinggu silver needle is made of buds only, full of white pekoe. With its traditional handmade process, the tea does not needed to be rolled or fried, it is naturally dried in the shade. Although it is made of Yunnan large leaf varietal, it does not have very obvious strong and sweet fragrance like the raw puerh. The fine tea buds taste fresh and has an elegant and light floral fragrance. The tea soup is very bright and clean, the taste is subtle in its sweetness with floral and pekoe fragrance, you can feel the richness in its substances.
Comparing with Silver Needle from Fujian, this one grows in Yunnan has bigger tea buds, the “needle-like” tea buds is full of conspicuous silvery tea hair. Its aroma is similar but different from the silver needle from Fujian, they are both subtle in its sweetness and full of floral and pekoe notes, but this Yunnan silver needle is relatively more long-lasting in its sweet floral flavor with hint of peppery note.
